We are currently looking for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join our Head Office in Tunstead. This role is easily commutable from Buxton, Sheffield, Stockport, Chesterfield, Macclesfield, Mansfield and the surrounding areas.

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, as our Commercial Finance Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the Financial Accountant in the delivery of commercial reporting, management information and financial analysis to local and Group leadership teams. The role will provide insight to inform effective strategic decision making, performance management, budget / forecast processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Partnering closely with commercial and operational stakeholders, the role will help drive profitability, identify opportunities, and improve business performance.
Your responsibilities as the Commercial Finance Analyst will include:
- Daily, weekly, and monthly commercial reporting and variance analysis.
- Communication of analysis and findings to finance and commercial leadership.
- Liaising with relevant teams to drive performance improvement and identify opportunities.
- Monitor pricing movements and revenue mix.
- Support maintenance of profitability models and production cost analyses.
- Monitor performance against strategic business objectives.
- Submit sales data to MPA and analyse inbound data.
- Development and maintenance of business KPI scorecards.
- Proactive analysis to investigate variances and discrepancies in data and provide commentary as required.
- Ad hoc analysis and project support as required to finance team and other senior leadership.
- Analytical support to sales team for major customer relationships.
- Supporting forecasting, budgeting, and other planning processes.
- Periodic support / holiday cover to core finance team as required (i.e. banking, payment approvals, month-end close).
The role of Commercial Finance Analyst is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires:
- ESSENTIAL – Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience.
- DESIRABLE – AAT qualified; or ACCA / CIMA / ACA part-qualified (or equivalent);
- Previous experience in MI reporting, performance and commercial analysis (to include variance, trend, and impact analysis).
- Experience analysing and documenting complex business areas and processes.
- Experience working across large datasets of financial or operational information.
- Understanding of general industrial, utilities and construction industries, particularly the customer, supplier and competitor interfaces
- Prior experience with analytics tools (i.e. PowerBI, Tableau).
- Prior experience in a commercial finance or business partnering role.
- Prior experience of operating in a chemicals / manufacturing industry
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel.i.e. advanced lookups, date formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, macros.
- Advanced numeracy and financial literacy.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Able to analyse and communicate complex concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Proactive attitude in identifying trends and proposing actions required.
