An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Radiographer to join the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, Cambridge.
With support from the Principal Radiologist, you will provide operational leadership for the Diagnostic Imaging service team within the Queens Veterinary School Hospital (QVSH), an RCVS-accredited teaching and referral hospital providing specialist veterinary care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a key diagnostic service supporting the Hospital's clinical, teaching and research activities, the service delivers advanced imaging for a diverse referral and emergency caseload. You will also provide advice and support to our primary care practices.
Reporting to the Principal Radiologist, the role has operational responsibility for a team of three full-time (including this role) and two part-time Radiographers, working alongside four part-time Radiologists and four Clinical Training Scholars. With support from the Principal Radiologist, the post holder is responsible for the effective delivery, quality and development of the imaging service, ensuring high standards of patient care, radiation safety and operational efficiency.
Applicants should not only hold DCR (or equivalent training/experience), but should also have substantial post-graduate experience in radiography at a senior level, including MRI and CT. In addition, applicants should have sound knowledge and understanding of a variety of diagnostic modalities including fluoroscopy, experience of handling small animals, and experience in teaching.
The role holder will be required to participate in an out-of-hours rota, to include on-call and weekend working, for which an additional payment is provided.
