Job Overview
Are you a commercially driven relationship-builder who thrives on variety? Do you enjoy understanding how businesses work, identifying opportunities and building trusted relationships that create lasting value?
We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Client Growth Manager to join our growing Business Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining client relationship management with new-business development and wants the autonomy to make a genuine commercial impact.
Working closely with the Senior Client Manager, you’ll manage and grow an established client portfolio while taking ownership of qualified new-business opportunities. You’ll build relationships with SME owners, directors and senior decision-makers, understand their objectives and challenges, and connect them with the right support from across MPA.
No two days will be the same. You could be exploring growth opportunities within existing client relationships, responding to business triggers, leading discovery conversations, developing proposals or negotiating new business.
This role would suit someone who is naturally curious, commercially ambitious and confident working with a wide range of people. We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate strong commercial results but who also values the relationship-building side of the role and takes pride in recommending the right solution for each client.
The Role
Working across an established client portfolio and qualified new-business opportunities, you will be:
- Managing and developing an allocated portfolio of clients, prioritising activity according to client need, commercial potential and relevant business triggers.
- Building trusted relationships with SME owners, directors and senior decision-makers.
- Developing a strong understanding of clients’ businesses, objectives and challenges.
- Proactively identifying and progressing cross-sell, up-sell, referral and introduction opportunities.
- Taking ownership of qualified opportunities generated through Marketing, Partnerships, referrals and other channels.
- Leading opportunities through discovery, proposal, negotiation and close.
- Agreeing clear next steps and maintaining momentum so that viable opportunities progress to a clear outcome.
- Working collaboratively with MPA experts, Marketing and Partnerships to bring the right expertise into client conversations.
- Managing commercial discussions professionally and ensuring proposed solutions deliver genuine value for the client.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, pipeline information and forecasts.
- Meeting or exceeding agreed revenue targets through client growth, introductions and new business.
- Developing your understanding of MPA’s services so you can recognise client needs and involve the right specialist at the right time.
You will not be expected to provide technical advice. Your role will be to understand the client’s wider needs, identify relevant opportunities and connect them with the appropriate expertise within MPA.
What We’re Looking For
You will have experience in a commercially focused B2B role involving both client relationship management and revenue generation. You will be comfortable balancing commercial ambition with a consultative, client-first approach.
- Demonstrable experience of personally generating revenue through existing-client growth and/or new-business activity.
- Experience managing and developing a portfolio of business clients or customers.
- Experience progressing sales opportunities from an initial conversation through to proposal, negotiation and close.
- Confidence communicating with SME owners, directors and other senior decision-makers.
- Strong questioning and listening skills, with the ability to understand business needs and identify relevant opportunities.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, organised and commercially focused approach.
- The judgement to prioritise clients and opportunities according to where your time can create the greatest value.
- Strong pipeline-management, forecasting, follow-up and CRM discipline.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial outcomes.
- A collaborative approach to working with Marketing, Partnerships and specialist service teams.
- The resilience and adaptability to succeed in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience within professional services, consultative B2B sales or an SME environment would be beneficial. Experience selling multiple, recurring or relationship-led services would also be advantageous.
A UK driving licence and access to your own transport will be required if regular client and office travel forms part of the role.
This is a hybrid role but will include regular travel to our offices in Cranfield, near Milton Keynes, as well as travel to meet clients where required.
The right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role.
Why Join Us?
At MPA, we’re always moving. We are a professional services company providing vital support to the leaders of innovative UK businesses. We’re growing, evolving and continually looking for better ways to support our people, our clients and our business.
This is more than a traditional account management or sales role. It’s an opportunity to build trusted relationships with SME owners and directors, grow an established client portfolio and convert qualified new-business opportunities. Working across MPA’s broad range of professional services will give you exposure to a diverse mix of businesses, commercial challenges and growth opportunities.
You’ll have the autonomy to use your commercial judgement, decide where your time can create the greatest value and take ownership of opportunities from the first conversation through to a clear outcome. You’ll also collaborate closely with colleagues across Business Development, Marketing, Partnerships and our specialist service teams.
We’re proud to be a family-friendly employer and understand that flexibility looks different for everyone. We’re open to conversations around flexible working because we believe great people don’t always fit neatly into a traditional 9-to-5.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, embraces collaboration and wants to be part of a growing business where they can make a genuine commercial impact. If you’re curious about how businesses work, motivated by building lasting client relationships and excited by the opportunity to create sustainable revenue growth, we’d love to hear from you.
