The National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) is a community interest company who specialises in helping victims of domestic abuse and violence obtain injunctions against their perpetrators.
NCDV is a fast, free injunction service to those at risk of all forms of domestic abuse regardless of their financial situation, gender, ethnic or sexuality.
Our employees are committed to helping survivors of domestic abuse helping them by drafting their court application forms and witness statements which are then sent to our panel of Solicitors in order for them to receive legal representation.

Overview
Working in the Legal Aid team your role will be to speak with victims of domestic abuse and violence drafting court bundles whilst on the phone in order for us to send these bundles to our panel of solicitors who will represent the applicant in court.
You will be working directly with vulnerable people and finding out exactly what abuse or violence they have suffered taking personal information whilst showing care and empathy towards the applicant.
Your role is to assist them in making the application to court along with drafting their witness statement, making sure you take detailed notes with accurate spelling and grammar.

Person Specification
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Accurate typing skills
- Good attention to detail
- Compassionate and empathetic
- Being able to multi task (speaking to applicants whilst drafting witness statements)
- Self-motivated
- Ability to manage difficult calls effectively
- Be able to work independently
Education & Qualifications
- Law degree or Graduate Diploma in Law or
- Criminology Degree or Experience of working in a Domestic Abuse organisation along with document drafting skills
- Strong academic background
- Strong verbal and written skills
This position will be based in our Guildford office full time for the first 4 months, after successful completion of probation the role will be hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
