We are seeking a dynamic and detail oriented Stock Control Manager to lead our inventory management and stock control operations within our Distribution Centre in Darton, South Yorkshire.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the accuracy of stock levels within the DC, optimise data accuracy, stock levels and ensure seamless coordination across outbound supply chain.
Your expertise will drive efficiency, reduce discrepancies, maintain data integrity and support our commitment to delivering exceptional product availability to our customers.
The Stock Control Manager works closely with warehouse, buying and finance teams to ensure effective stock management and timely reporting, contributing to the optimisation of stock turnover and minimisation of discrepancies and shrinkage.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end stock control processes, including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, and shipping to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Utilise Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to analyse inventory data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
- Conduct root cause analysis on stock discrepancies or supply chain issues; develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Implement process improvements in materials handling, shipping & receiving, and warehouse workflows to enhance efficiency and safety standards.
- o Oversee all aspects of stock control, ensuring inventory is GRN’d inline with the goods in process.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring data integrity across all stock management systems and conducting the necessary checks are in place.
- Manage stock replen processes, ensuring stock is replenished in a timely manner to avoid nil picks.
- Ensure short-dated stock does not filter through the warehouse and that each product has its shortest date added to pick bins in priority order.
- Ensure the clear and concise management of legacy stock.
- Manage Gem stock holding to ensure imminently active seasons are called back to the warehouse,
- Ensure negative stocks are eradicated through accurate reporting and the introduction of rigorous checks
- Ensure no stock remains in AA for longer than 48 hours
Data Integrity and Reporting:
- Ensure the accuracy of inventory data in warehouse management systems (FM) through regular audits and data verification.
- Prepare detailed reports on stock levels, stock discrepancies, and stock movement, ensuring accuracy in all stock-related KPIs.
- Create capacity trackers to identify pinch points with available space.
- Analyse inventory data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement in stock management processes.
KPI Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Nil picks, not in preferred bin, no bin assigned, negative stock, AA stock, best before KPIs and in stock no movements.
- Present regular updates to senior management on stock performance and highlight areas of concern.
- Use data analysis to recommend process improvements and reduce costs related to excess or obsolete stock.
- Ensure damages remain below 0.01%
- No stock in AA longer than 48 hours
- No stock lost in DC
- Negative bins less than 10 by checking all bin locations with less than x10 cases as well as continuous bulk bin checks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse management, stock control, or supply chain roles with a strong understanding of logistics operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is essential.
- Strong data analysis skills with expertise in Power BI
- Excellent Excel and Office skills
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective process improvements in fast-paced environments.
- Strong analysis skills combined with attention to detail; experience using logistics software like ERP systems is highly desirable.
