Thatcham Pre‑School is seeking a qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join our warm, friendly, term‑time setting. We are a small, nurturing preschool where strong relationships, purposeful interactions and high‑quality early years practice are central to everything we do. The successful candidate will support children aged 2–5, contribute to a calm and engaging learning environment, and uphold excellent safeguarding standards at all times.
Job Description
As a Level 3 Preschool Practitioner, you will play an active role in delivering high‑quality early years provision within our one‑room preschool setting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high‑quality care, supervision and support for children aged 2–5
- Creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment that supports children’s wellbeing
- Delivering activities and interactions in line with the EYFS
- Observing children’s progress and contributing to assessments and learning journals
- Supporting daily routines including setting up, tidying away and transitions
- Following all safeguarding procedures, including CAAS and LADO processes
- Recording and reporting concerns promptly to the Manager (DSL) or Deputy (DDSL)
- Maintaining professional boundaries and modelling safe practice
- Supporting risk assessments, safety checks and hygiene routines
- Working collaboratively with the Manager, Deputy and wider team
- Communicating professionally with parents, carers and visitors
- Supporting children with SEND under guidance from senior staff and external professionals
- Contributing to children’s transition to school through reports and communication with Reception teachers
- Attending training, meetings and CPD to remain up‑to‑date with EYFS, safeguarding and SEND
- Undertaking any reasonable duties required to ensure the safe and effective running of the preschool

Requirements Essential
- Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Experience working with children aged 2–5
- Strong understanding of the EYFS
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures including CAAS & LADO
- Understanding of child development and inclusive practice
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to follow policies and procedures consistently
- Ability to record observations accurately
- Calm, organised and able to work under pressure
- Warm, patient, caring and professional
- Reliable, committed and reflective
- Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality

Pay: £12.80-£12.90 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 33.0 per week
