PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Children's Support Worker will provide safe, compassionate and person-centred support to children and young
people with autism, learning disabilities and additional support needs within their homes and communities. The post
holder will support children to achieve positive outcomes, build confidence, develop independence and participate in
activities that promote wellbeing and inclusion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Deliver support in accordance with care and support plans.
– Support children with routines, activities and community participation.
– Promote emotional wellbeing and positive experiences.
– Encourage independence and life skills development.
– Build positive and trusting relationships with children and families.
– Maintain accurate records of support provided.
– Follow risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
– Report concerns promptly and appropriately.
– Participate in training, supervision and team meetings.
– Promote dignity, respect, inclusion and child-centred practice.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and must
report concerns in accordance with organisational policies and child protection procedures.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
– SSSC registered or eligible to register.

– Experience working with children, young people or
vulnerable individuals.

– Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
– Good communication skills.
– Ability to build positive relationships.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Willingness to undertake training.
– Experience supporting autistic children.
– Experience supporting children with learning
disabilities.
– Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
– Full UK driving licence.
– Relevant Health & Social Care qualification.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
