Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated KS3/GCSE Science Tutor to support students in achieving their academic goals. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and personalised lessons, fostering a positive learning environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ educational journeys, particularly those preparing for key examinations. The tutor will work closely with learners to develop their understanding of key scientific concepts across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, building confidence, strengthening practical and theoretical knowledge, and equipping students with the skills needed for academic success.
Responsibilities
- Deliver customised tutoring sessions in KS3 and GCSE Science, tailored to individual student needs and learning styles.
- Teach engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, adapting content to suit students' abilities and examination goals.
- Prepare lesson plans and resources that align with the National Curriculum and GCSE examination specifications.
- Assess student progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Develop students' scientific knowledge, practical understanding, problem-solving skills and exam technique.
- Foster a supportive and motivating environment that encourages student engagement, curiosity and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff regarding progress and areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching Science at KS3 or GCSE level.
- Strong understanding of the UK Science curriculum, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- Experience working with children or young learners, including those with special educational needs, is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong organisational skills to plan lessons and track student progress efficiently.
- Patience, adaptability and a passion for supporting student development.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a recognised teaching qualification or a degree in a Science-related subject, are preferred but not essential.
