Vehicle Preparation & Operations Assistant
Location: Dudley
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm (including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)
Pay: £17,000 per year (£13.73 per hour)
About the role
We're looking for a reliable, hardworking and motivated Vehicle Preparation & Operations Assistant to join our growing independent used car dealership.
Please note: This is not a vehicle sales role. The position is primarily focused on collecting vehicles, preparing stock for sale, transporting vehicles to garages and MOT appointments, photographing vehicles, and supporting the day-to-day running of the dealership.
This is a practical, hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys working with vehicles, takes pride in their work and is happy to get stuck into a variety of tasks. While there will be occasional customer interaction, the majority of your time will be spent preparing vehicles and helping keep the business running efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Collecting and delivering vehicles
- Taking vehicles to MOTs, servicing, repairs, inspections and body shops
- Moving vehicles safely around the dealership and forecourt
- Preparing vehicles for sale and customer collection
- Washing, cleaning and presenting vehicles to a high standard
- Assisting with vehicle valeting where required
- Carrying out basic vehicle condition checks
- Photographing vehicles for online advertising
- Uploading and updating vehicle adverts
- Completing paperwork and maintaining accurate vehicle records
- Keeping the forecourt, office and surrounding areas clean, tidy and presentable
- Running general errands to support the business
- Greeting customers and directing enquiries where required
- Assisting with vehicle handovers when needed
- Supporting the team with the day-to-day operation of the dealership
Skills and experience
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Maximum of 6 penalty points
- Confident driving both manual and automatic vehicles
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Good attention to detail
- Able to work independently and use your own initiative
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out an active role
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Previous motor trade experience is desirable but not essential
Important information
This role involves regular driving of company and customer vehicles.
The successful applicant will spend a significant amount of time on their feet, moving vehicles, cleaning vehicles, travelling to appointments and working both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
