Role Overview
We are seeking a practical and technically minded Workshop Technician to support the preparation, configuration, assessment and refurbishment of print equipment. The role is primarily workshop and technician focused, with supporting warehouse duties to ensure devices, parts, consumables and engineer stock are managed efficiently and professionally.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing print devices for deployment, carrying out basic technical assessments, supporting engineers, troubleshooting equipment issues, refurbishing used devices and maintaining a safe, organised workshop. They will also provide practical support with stock, deliveries, supplier orders and warranty processes when required.
Key Responsibilities
Technical / Workshop
· Set up and configure new print devices ready for customer installation, including unpacking, assembly, configuration, firmware updates, network preparation and completion of any required pre-installation checks.
· Refurbish and prepare used print devices for redeployment by thoroughly cleaning, inspecting, testing and repairing equipment to ensure it meets the required operational and presentation standards.
· Carry out machine assessments and condition checks, identifying wear, damage, missing components or potential issues, and complete basic fault diagnosis where required before equipment is released or redeployed.
· Prepare and quality-check devices for installation, collection and transport, ensuring all required accessories, consumables, parts and documentation are present and that equipment is securely packaged and protected.
· Complete functional and quality testing to confirm devices are operating correctly and are fit for purpose before leaving the workshop, escalating any faults that require further technical support.
· Maintain accurate workshop records, including machine condition, work completed, parts replaced, test results and any issues identified during preparation or refurbishment.
· Maintain workshop tools, work areas and equipment in a safe, clean and organised condition, ensuring tools and equipment are stored correctly and available when required.
· Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling, electrical safety and the correct use of PPE when working with equipment, tools and machinery.
· Manage workshop priorities effectively, ensuring devices are prepared within agreed timescales and coordinating with Logistics, Scheduling and Engineering teams where required.
· Support engineers and operational teams by providing technical assistance, advice and prepared equipment where required to ensure customer installations and service activity run smoothly.
Warehouse & Operational Support
· Pick, pack, and despatch customer consumables and supplies accurately and efficiently
· Manage incoming and outgoing deliveries
· Maintain warehouse stock levels and stock accuracy
· Organise engineer replenishment stock and consumables
· Process and monitor orders with suppliers
· Coordinate hardware deliveries & collections with suppliers
· Handle supplier warranty claims and returns processes
· Ensure safe handling and storage of equipment and consumables
· Maintain safe working practices within the warehouse and workshop
· Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient warehouse environment in line with health & safety standards, while demonstrating a proactive approach within a fast-growing business
Skills & Experience Required
· Previous workshop, technical, engineering support or equipment refurbishment experience preferred
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to prioritise workload and work independently
· Good communication and teamwork skills
· Basic IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records
· Strong practical and hands-on approach with confidence working on technical equipment
· Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential
Desirable Experience
· Experience within the print management, photocopier, or managed print sector
· Knowledge of stock control systems
· Experience servicing, refurbishing, configuring or fault-finding office equipment or printers
Pay: From £26,500.00 per year
