Job Summary
To manage the day to day running of the out of school club setting.
Main tasks
· Ensure the well being and safety of the children attending the club.
· Manage the day to day administration of the club.
· Be responsible for the staff team.
· Implement company policies and procedures.
· Establish and maintain communication links with all appropriate bodies involved in the smooth running of the club, e.g. schools and community centres.
Administration duties
· Managing daily registers and walking lists if appropriate.
· Authorising staff time sheets.
· Managing and operating the petty cash system.
· Managing spending within set budgets and arranging necessary shopping or additional spending.
· Organisation of timetable and staff rotas for the holiday care clubs.
· Allocation of child places.
· Management and monitoring waiting lists where appropriate.
· Conducting parent/child registration inductions.
Staff responsibilities
· Provide support and one to one supervision to Play Work staff.
· Carry out staff induction.
· Identifying any staff training needs.
· Organise and hold weekly staff meetings.
· Attend weekly Coordinator meetings during term time. As part of this you may be required to take on specialist additional roles and tasks.
· Deal with staff grievances and if necessary pass them to the HR manager.
Implementation of Company policies and procedures
· Have a sound knowledge and understanding of company policies and procedures and remain up to date with any changes made to these.
· Keep parents, staff and children aware of pertinent policies and inform them of any amendments.
· Ensure that policies and procedures are implemented on a day to day basis.
· In conjunction with the Project Manager and other appropriate bodies regularly review and assess policies and procedures.
Communication with appropriate bodies
· Establish and maintain working relationships with school staff, community centre staff, social work departments and any other relevant bodies.
· Communicate with local organisations and the media in the advertising and promotion of the club.
Training
· Undertake training as may be appropriate for professional and personal development to meet SSSC registration.
· Attend any in-house training and workshops that may be required.
Health & Safety
· Be aware of Health and Safety procedures.
· Carry out risk assessments as appropriate.
· Report any hazards or faults to the correct person on site.
· Ensure all children are escorted safety to and from school, around the premises and on trips.
· Adhere to all health and hygiene guidelines for example, infection control.
· Adhere to National Care Standards regarding adult to child ratios and guidelines.
Planning and children’s well being
· Ensure safe and creative play activities are provided for children.
· Supervise and implement a programme of activities for the children during term time and in the holidays.
· Provide appropriate materials where required.
· Ensure the provision of a healthy and varied snack for the children.
· Develop good relationships with the children. Find out their interests and implement suggestions where possible.
· Establish a caring and interested manner with the children rather than a purely supervisory role.
· Implement and promote good communication with parents.
