Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Technical Surveyor & Installation Specialist to join our team, delivering luxury residential and commercial automated shading and window treatment solutions.
This is a hands-on technical role combining site surveying, customer consultation and installation. You will be responsible for carrying out detailed site surveys, producing accurate measurements, advising customers on the most suitable window treatment and automated shading solutions, and completing installations to the highest standard.
Working closely with the Programme Manager, you will provide the technical information required to support the quotation process and ensure projects are accurately specified from the outset. You will assess site conditions, recommend suitable products, advise on power requirements and installation feasibility, and identify any technical considerations before installation.
Once orders have been confirmed and scheduled, you will return to site to complete the installation, commissioning and final client handover. The Programme Manager will be responsible for quotations, scheduling, workload planning and overall project coordination, allowing you to focus on delivering technical excellence, safe working practices and an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out comprehensive site surveys for automated and manual window treatment projects.
· Produce accurate measurements and detailed survey reports.
· Advise clients on the most suitable window treatment and automated shading solutions based on project requirements, aesthetics, functionality and installation feasibility.
· Assess site conditions and recommend appropriate mains power locations, cable provision and infrastructure to support automated shading systems, taking into account manufacturer requirements and available voltages.
· Identify any electrical, structural or site preparation requirements and communicate these clearly to the client, contractor and Programme Manager.
· Review architectural drawings and identify technical or installation considerations before installation.
· Provide accurate survey information to the Programme Manager to support quotation preparation.
· Liaise with clients, architects, interior designers, contractors and electricians on all technical aspects of the project.
· Install motorised curtain tracks, roller blinds, Roman blinds and manual window treatment systems to the highest standard.
· Commission automated shading systems, carrying out testing, programming and final adjustments where required.
· Carry out site-specific risk assessments and ensure all installation activities are completed in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures, safe systems of work and industry best practice.
· Resolve technical installation issues on site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
· Deliver a professional client handover, demonstrating system operation and ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
· Maintain exceptional standards of workmanship, presentation, customer service and housekeeping at all times.
About You
· Extensive experience within the automated window shading and window treatment industry.
· Strong knowledge of Lutron, Silent Gliss, Somfy and other leading automated shading manufacturers.
· Excellent understanding of motorised curtains, roller blinds, Roman blinds, curtain tracks and soft furnishings.
· Proven installation experience with automated and manual window treatment systems.
· Experience carrying out detailed site surveys and producing accurate measuring documentation.
· Strong technical understanding of fixing methods, site conditions and installation best practices.
· Ability to recommend suitable automated shading solutions and advise on power requirements and installation feasibility.
· Ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings.
· Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation, with the ability to identify hazards, undertake site-specific risk assessments and work safely in residential and commercial environments.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· Professional, organised and self-motivated.
· Full UK driving license.
Desirable Experience
· Formal Health & Safety qualifications such as SSSTS, SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
· Experience preparing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
· Home automation systems.
· Lighting control integration.

· Electrical installation knowledge.
