We’re looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing teams in High Wycombe, Reading, Brighton or Southampton .
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists on major UK water programmes, developing your expertise across clean water and/or wastewater while taking increasing ownership of your work and contributing to solutions with real environmental and community impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Process Engineer , you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of process engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of clean water and wastewater projects. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical skills while taking ownership of key aspects of project delivery.
You will:
- Develop process design solutions for clean water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Undertake process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and treatment process evaluations.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings and other project deliverables.
- Support the development and review of process design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to site investigations, asset assessments, process optimisation studies and technical workshops.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, civil and environmental engineers to develop integrated solutions.
- Engage with clients and project teams to understand requirements and help translate challenges into practical engineering solutions.
- Contribute to innovation, technical best practice and the development of more sustainable approaches to water and wastewater treatment.

As you develop within the role, you’ll have increasing opportunities to take ownership of technical delivery, build client relationships and contribute to more complex projects. You’ll also be supported in developing towards professional registration and future technical or project leadership opportunities.
ABOUT YOU Essential
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in process engineering within the water, wastewater, utilities or related sectors.
- Experience undertaking process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments or treatment process design.
- Good understanding of water and/or wastewater treatment processes and engineering principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage your own technical tasks and contribute effectively to project delivery.
Desirable
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution such as CIWEM, IMechE, IChemE or ICE.
- Experience working on UK water company projects or within AMP programmes.
- Experience across clean water or wastewater treatment, including treatment optimisation, nutrient removal, emerging contaminants or resource recovery.
- Experience supporting site investigations, commissioning, pilot trials or process optimisation activities.
- Interest in digital innovation, sustainability and developing new approaches to water and wastewater treatment.
