Building Surveyor

About the Role
An established housing and property organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Building Surveyor to support the delivery of surveying and property inspection services across the East Midlands region.
This role will involve carrying out a range of specialist surveys including stock condition assessments, damp and mould inspections, disrepair investigations, fire door inspections and energy efficiency surveys across residential housing portfolios.
The successful candidate will work closely with wider property and asset teams, providing technical advice, managing survey programmes and supporting compliance, investment planning and property improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct stock condition, disrepair, damp and mould, and specialist property surveys
Deliver high-volume defect investigations across residential housing portfolios
Prepare detailed technical reports, schedules of works and specifications
Diagnose building defects and recommend suitable remedial solutions
Support long-term investment planning through cost forecasting and stock analysis
Monitor surveying programmes and ensure delivery against KPIs and deadlines
Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders
Assist with customer complaints, technical queries and property-related investigations
Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and housing standards
Support quality assurance and continuous improvement across surveying services
Requirements
Proven experience within a Building Surveyor or Property Surveyor position
Strong understanding of housing disrepair legislation and defect diagnosis
Experience producing technical survey reports and specifications
Knowledge of social housing and residential property maintenance
Ability to manage multiple surveys and workloads independently
Strong organisational and communication skills
Experience analysing stock data and preparing cost forecasts
Surveying, construction or property-related qualification preferred
Working towards or holding RICS accreditation desirable
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the East Midlands
