Would you like to play an important role in Chichester’s award winning The Novium Museum and Tourist Information Centre?
We are looking for a creative and highly motivated Marketing and Communications Officer to join our dedicated and friendly team, based in the centre of Chichester. This position provides an exciting opportunity to promote the wide range of heritage and tourism services delivered by The Novium Museum and Tourist Information Centre team.
The Marketing and Communications Officer will coordinate all The Novium Museum and TICs communications, marketing and advertising initiatives working closely with other Museum Officers and the Museum Manager. They will also support the delivery of weddings and venue hire at The Guildhall as well as delivering marketing events across the district.
The successful applicant will have an entrepreneurial mind-set and experience of marketing across digital and print platforms. This role will also seek to secure income through grant funding and sponsorship to support the public programme of The Novium Museum. They will also have experience of communications with the media and other stakeholders and will be committed to providing exceptional customer service.
A relevant marketing and communications degree qualification (or equivalent) or at least three years’ successful experience in a communications/ marketing role is essential.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and will also need to be able to work effectively and co-operatively with staff, volunteers and the public (both on a one-to-one basis and in groups). The Museum is staffed by a friendly, dedicated team, and the Marketing and Communications Officer must be a good team worker, able to put across their point of view, but also sensitive to the needs and opinions of others. The person appointed needs to be able to work well on their own and be able to prioritise their workload effectively whilst also being flexible and able to cope with the changing demands of the work.
The successful applicant will need to be confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and other digital platforms.
The role involves regular travel within the district to attend meetings, events and support the delivery of marketing and communications activities. The Museum has access to a vehicle which may be used where appropriate.
The District Council has a very active in-house training programme, and training in Health & Safety issues, internal procedures, IT and other matters will be given as required.
Normal working hours for this post are 37 hours over a 5-day period. The post holder will be expected to be part of a weekend rota throughout the year to support the operations of the museum. Regular weekend and evening work will be required as the post supports the delivery of a range of events.
