CNWL Parent And Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) is a pilot service in Brent. We are looking for an Assistant Psychotherapist to join the current team. The post-holder will be based in Brent CAMHS and will have clinics in the community and in Family Hubs across Brent.
In line with the Start 4 Life Programme, the service will offer support to infants in the first two years of life with mild, moderate or severe mental and emotional health needs, and their mothers in the first two years postpartum; who have mild to moderate mental health concerns past or present, risking the mother-infant relationship. This service also extends to fathers, co-parents and the overall familial relationship with the infant, with the infant remaining the focus of the work.
The service will be delivered by a MDT consisting of a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, a Lead Parent-Infant Psychotherapist, two Parent-Infant Psychotherapists, and an Assistant Psychotherapist.
The post-holder will work under supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality; brief psycho-dynamically-informed, outcome focused interventions for PAIRS.
To work with the multi-disciplinary team maintaining excellent working relationships with other professional and voluntary workers and significant others.
To represent the service as appropriate at meetings, case conferences and to liaise with other agencies.
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the PAIRS across all sectors of care. To support clinicians and clinical systems, do ROMS etc
To support the provision of psychological assessment and intervention under supervision
In addition the post holder would support the development and delivery of a wide range of supportive interventions to enable infants and their mothers/carers referred to the service to improve the quality of parent-infant relationships.
The post holder will be required to be creative, flexible, adaptable, professional and motivated in all aspects of their role, both in clinical delivery and within the development of the service provision.
The post-holder will be involved in elements of participation in the PAIRS and respective borough.
The post-holder will work with infants, their mothers and families within PAIRS with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities
The post also necessitates the post holder to travel regularly across Brent and when necessary, to local community amenities or independent sector establishments often transporting test materials, audio-visual and IT equipment.

To be involved in supporting initial assessments alongside PAIRS clinicians.
Under supervision to plan, develop and deliver programmes designed to support and complement the work of PAIRS practitioners in order to facilitate educational, social and emotional needs of infants and their mothers/carers as part of the overall PAIRS treatment plan.
To support delivery of outcome focused brief psycho-dynamically-informed Goal Based individual and group interventions as needed to infants and their mothers/carers experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
To work independently according to a plan agreed with supervisor and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
To assist in clinically related administration, ROMS, QI project, collection of statistics, taking notes and organising agendas and minutes of team meetings, assisting with managing waiting lists, liaising with external agencies, signposting referrals, assisting in development of audit and/or research projects and teaching and project work.
To deliver on Trust priorities in line with participation, which will require active engagement within the service and Trust.
