We are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Assistant Buyer to support the Buying team in delivering an exceptional range of home and lifestyle products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Buyer in sourcing, developing and launching new products, identifying opportunities to drive category growth and innovation.
- Oversee the sample approval process across furniture categories, ensuring any issues are identified and resolved promptly.
- Assist in building commercially successful and customer-focused product ranges that align with business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating cost prices, lead times and delivery schedules.
- Work closely with the Buyer to react to in-season trading performance, maximising sales and profitability opportunities.
- Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Buying Administration Assistant (BAA), ensuring a high standard of support and accuracy.
- Contribute to category and departmental strategy by identifying risks and opportunities through data analysis and market insight.
- Partner closely with Merchandising teams to build ranges, review sales performance and implement agreed trading actions.
- Raise purchase orders and support the tracking of shipments to ensure timely product delivery.
- Support range reviews and selection decisions, using trend analysis, customer insight and trading performance to inform recommendations.
- Monitor competitor activity, product ranges and pricing trends, presenting relevant findings and opportunities to the wider team.
- Manage the critical path, highlighting risks, opportunities and key deadlines, while working collaboratively with Sourcing and Quality teams to ensure products are delivered on time and to the required standards.
About You:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer or a senior Buying Administration Assistant (BAA), ideally within a fast-paced retail environment.
- A genuine passion for product, with a keen eye for trends and emerging market opportunities.
- Has a strong understanding of the customer, and is able to spot the latest trends relevant for them
- Organised and able to use their initiative and to work in a fast paced environment
- Has great attention to detail to ensure that all the important details such as selling price, shipment dates and product attributes are correct.
- Has the ability to build strong relationships with other internal teams and suppliers alike
- Is able to communicate and present clearly and effectively to all levels
