With continued growth and an ambitious outlook for the future, we are now looking to strengthen our senior leadership team with the appointment of an experienced Head of Finance.
Based at our Chapeltown, Sheffield site, this is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced finance leader to take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in shaping the financial and commercial direction of the business.
The role is highly visible and commercially focused, working closely with the senior leadership team and operational stakeholders to support performance, growth and informed decision-making across the wider business.
The Role
As Head of Finance, you will have overall responsibility for the finance function, ensuring the business has strong financial controls, robust reporting and clear commercial insight to support both day-to-day operations and long-term growth.
You will lead and develop the finance team while maintaining a hands-on approach to financial management, reporting, planning and business partnering.

The successful candidate will be expected to be based at the Chapeltown, Sheffield site for a minimum of four days per week and must be comfortable with regular national travel to other company sites as required. This role will involve working closely with the wider leadership and operational teams across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall ownership of the finance function and financial performance of the business.
- Lead, manage and develop the finance team, creating a high-performing and commercially focused function.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure robust financial controls, governance and processes are maintained across the business.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Take responsibility for cash flow, working capital and liquidity management.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Provide regular financial analysis, insight and challenge to the senior leadership team.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and management information to improve visibility of business performance.
- Partner closely with operational, purchasing, sales and commercial teams to drive improved financial and operational performance.
- Work collaboratively with finance and operational teams across multiple company sites.
- Support strategic decision-making through high-quality financial analysis and commercial modelling.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, margins and working capital.
- Oversee statutory accounts, audit, tax and relevant financial compliance requirements.
- Drive improvements to finance systems, processes and reporting.
- Strengthen financial controls and introduce best practice across the finance function.
- Support business growth, investment and strategic initiatives from a financial perspective.
- Act as a trusted advisor and constructive challenger to the Managing Director and wider senior leadership team.
- Provide clear and commercially relevant financial information to support business planning and decision-making.
- Ensure the finance function remains scalable and fit for the future as the business continues to grow.
- Travel nationally to other company sites to support financial oversight, reporting, controls and operational performance.
About You
We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded Head of Finance or senior finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent leadership and business partnering skills.
You will ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be qualified by significant relevant experience.
- Previous experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Director, Senior Finance Manager or similar.
- Proven experience leading and developing a finance team.
- Strong technical understanding of management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial controls.
- Experience within food, FMCG, manufacturing, retail, wholesale or distribution would be highly advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.
- Experience working closely with senior leadership teams and influencing business decisions.
- Strong understanding of cash flow, working capital and profitability.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to challenge constructively and hold senior stakeholders accountable.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A genuine interest in the wider business rather than focusing solely on the finance function.
- The ability and willingness to be site-based in Chapeltown, Sheffield for a minimum of four days per week.
- Comfortable travelling nationally to other company sites as required.
