This was previously advertised as an internal vacancy but is now open to external applicants
An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide maternity cover as a highly motivated lawyer in our experienced legal team.
Whilst we are ideally seeking to appoint a qualified solicitor, we would also welcome applications from a lawyer who may be less experienced and who is working towards qualification.
We would therefore welcome applications from experienced senior practitioners as well as those working towards legal qualifications.
This is a Career Grade Role that provides an opportunity for either those with experience and qualifications or those still training and the level at which you join will reflect your current skills. It is expected that the appointment will be made at Grade 9.
You will predominantly provide advice and support to the Council’s Human Resources team, the equalities team and information governance. In addition as a lawyer in the litigation team and in particular as part of the equalities element of the role, you will be providing advice and support to multiple client teams where equalities issues arise and in particular in the area of housing and prosecutions
You’ll be part of a team who provide legal advice on varied and complex employment, information governance and equality issues, reflecting the variety of employee roles in the council.
You will also be part of the wider litigation team and will occasionally provide support with straightforward civil and criminal matters.
As part of a wider legal service you will be at the forefront of change as we implement the Council Plan.
If you are an ambitious, innovative solictor, barrister or fellow of CILEX (authorised to undertake reserved legal activy in the required fields) or are working towards those qualifications, and if you have an interest in and ideally experience of general civil or criminal litigation, employment, information and equality law - a role within our service area could be your next career move.
This post is suitable as a job share opportunity.
If you are an internal candidate interested in applying for this job as a secondment opportunity, please discuss with your current line manager before submitting your application.
