Part-Time Dental Bookkeeper & Xero Administrator
Hours: One day or one evening per month (on the last day of each month)
Location: Remote/Flexible – applicants must be based within the Angus or Tayside region, or be able to travel to Forfar with ease when required.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Dental Bookkeeper & Xero Administrator to provide monthly financial administration for a busy dental practice. This is a flexible, part-time role requiring approximately one day or one evening of work on the final day of each month.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within a dental practice and a good understanding of both NHS and private dental income, reporting on SOE Exact, as well as proficiency in Xero accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monthly Administration of Dentists’ Schedules
- Process each dentist’s monthly schedules.
- Calculate and verify NHS and private earnings for each clinician.
- Ensure all income is accurately recorded and allocated.
- Prepare monthly summaries of dentists’ earnings
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in schedules or income.
2. Xero Administration & Practice Principal Bookkeeping
- Manage and maintain the practice principals Xero accounting system.
- Reconcile bank transactions and accounts monthly.
- Ensure all income and expenditure are accurately coded and recorded.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare month-end bookkeeping and reports for the practice principals and accountant.
- Keep Xero up to date and ensure accounts are organised and ready for year-end reporting.
Essential Requirements
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero and SOE exact ( preferable) .
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organisational and numerical skills.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working in a dental practice.
- Understanding of NHS dental schedules and private dental income.
- Familiarity with dental financial reporting and practice bookkeeping.
- AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting experience.

- One day or one evening per month.
- Work to be completed on the last day of each month (or the nearest working day by prior agreement).
We are looking for someone reliable, efficient, and experienced who can confidently manage our monthly dental income administration and Xero bookkeeping with minimal supervision.
Pay: From £20.00 per hour
