Location: West Byfleet, Surrey (hybrid)
Hours: 3 days/week. This is an initial 6 month fixed-term contract, with the intention to move to a permanent role once the finance function is properly established. The scope and hours of the permanent role would be reviewed together at that point, based on where the business is by then.

Hideaway Garden Rooms is one of the fastest-growing premium garden room and annexe builders in the South East - bespoke projects from £15,000 to £100,000+, currently turning over c.£2m. We've just moved into new commercial premises and are building the finance function to match our ambitions.
We're looking for a hands on Financial Controller to take ownership of our finance function during a genuinely interesting stage: completing a QuickBooks migration, building project-level profitability reporting for the first time and putting real financial control and resilience into a function that has, until now, relied too heavily on one person.
What you'll own
- Month end close and management accounts
- Weekly cash flow reporting to the Directors, on top of monthly management accounts
- Cash flow forecasting, budgeting and forecasting
- Project level profitability - margin by build, tracked through QuickBooks Classes/Projects, not a side spreadsheet
- Completion of the QuickBooks Online migration
- Payroll and pension journals ahead of processing by our external accountants
- Management of a remote bookkeeper
- The relationship with our external accountancy practice (VAT, payroll, pensions, CIS, year-end and corporation)
- Financial controls, including payment authorisation and segregation of duties
What we're looking for
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant with genuine SME or construction-sector experience
- Comfortable being hands on at 3 days a week - this is a doing role, not a purely advisory one
- Direct experience with job costing or percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- A confident communicator who will challenge the founders with data, not just agree with them

Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
