Overview
Churchfarm Maintenance is a growing construction and maintenance company delivering high-quality refurbishment and maintenance works across the South West. We pride ourselves on reliability, quality workmanship and strong client relationships.
Our passive fire protection work includes firestopping, fire door installation and maintenance, and compartmentation works.
We are looking for a practical and organised Site Manager to work with our passive fire protection team. Most of your time will be spent on site, with some time in our Bristol office each week. You do not need formal passive fire qualifications to apply. Site management experience and a trade background are more important to us, and carpentry or joinery experience would be ideal. We can provide role-specific training to the right person.
Key responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of passive fire projects, including firestopping, fire door installation and maintenance, and compartmentation works.
- Schedule work and coordinate operatives, subcontractors, labour and site visits.
- Hold pre-start meetings, inductions and toolbox talks (TBTs) where needed.
- Check PPE, risk assessments, method statements and other health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate training and carry out BM TRADA competency checks where required.
- Carry out or assist with surveys for fire doors, firestopping and compartmentation works, and confirm the work required.
- Source suitable, compliant products and materials and monitor quantities and usage.
- Review work at every stage, carry out spot checks and ensure it meets the agreed specification.
- Take ownership of quality management and make sure any defects are put right.
- Review operatives’ ONETRACE entries, photographs and progress updates each day.
- Help resolve and escalate site issues when required.
- Provide clear feedback and progress reports to clients and the internal team.
- Keep each project progressing and work towards agreed programmes and completion dates.
Requirements
- Experience supervising or managing construction, maintenance or planned works.
- A practical trade or building background; carpentry or joinery would be ideal.
- Strong organisation and the ability to keep several jobs moving at the same time.
- A good understanding of site safety and a strong eye for quality and detail.
- A straightforward, approachable manner and the confidence to deal with site issues.
- Good basic computer and record-keeping skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A DBS check will be required for this role.
What we offer
- Company vehicle.
- 28 days’ annual leave.
- Ongoing training and development, including support with passive fire requirements.
