About Norfolk Youth Mentoring
Norfolk Youth Mentoring is a growing youth mentoring organisation supporting children and young people to build confidence, resilience and positive futures.
We are currently progressing towards becoming a Community Interest Company (CIC), and as part of this exciting next stage, we are looking for a person to join our leadership board as a Young Community Voice Director.
This is a genuine opportunity to have a say in the future direction of the organisation and ensure that young people's voices are represented in the decisions we make.
About the Role
We are particularly interested in hearing from someone 18–25 who have their own lived experience of facing adversity or challenges while growing up.
This could include experiences such as:
* Struggling with education or school
* Poor mental health or emotional wellbeing
* Low confidence or self-esteem
* Difficult family or personal circumstances
* Finding employment or becoming NEET
* Feeling that your voice wasn't listened to
* Overcoming barriers or difficult periods in your life
You do not need to have experience of being a director or working in business.
What matters most is that you have a genuine interest in helping other young people and want to use your experiences to help shape something positive.
What You Will Do
As a Young Community Voice Director, you will:
* Attend approximately four board meetings each year.
* Share your views and experiences to help influence decision-making.
* Help us understand what young people in our community need.
* Contribute ideas for future mentoring programmes and projects.
* Have a say in how our organisation develops as a CIC.
* Help us consider how funding and resources can have the greatest impact for young people.
* Challenge ideas and ask questions when you feel the young person's perspective needs to be considered.
* Help ensure that young people's voices remain at the heart of Norfolk Youth Mentoring.
You will not simply be there to "represent young people". You will have a genuine voice in the organisation and an opportunity to influence its future direction.

We are looking for someone who is:
* Aged 18–25.
* Living in or around King's Lynn and the surrounding areas.
* Passionate about improving opportunities for young people.
* Comfortable sharing their views and ideas.
* Willing to listen to other people's perspectives.
* Interested in making a difference within their local community.
* Able to commit to approximately four meetings per year.
* Someone who wants to develop their own skills and experience.
You do not need qualifications in business, youth work or leadership.
Your lived experience, ideas and perspective are what we value most.
