Head of Projects – Active Fire Protection
Our client is a well-established and growing Active Fire Protection company looking to appoint an experienced Head of Projects to establish and lead a brand-new Projects division.
This is a rare opportunity for a commercially minded leader with an essential background in Active Fire Protection who wants to make a genuine impact. You'll be responsible for building the department from the ground up, developing processes, recruiting and leading your own team, and driving the successful delivery of projects as the division grows.
The Role
Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the Projects function, overseeing the delivery of active fire protection installations across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the company's new Projects division.
- Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing team of Project Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors.
- Oversee the delivery of fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, emergency lighting, and other active fire protection projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with current British Standards and fire safety legislation.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, resources, and client relationships.
- Drive operational improvements, departmental growth, and overall project performance.
- Work closely with senior management to shape the future direction of the division.
About You
- Essential: Significant experience within the Active Fire Protection industry in a senior Projects, Contracts, or Operations leadership role.
- Proven experience managing multiple active fire protection installation projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and other active fire protection systems.
- Experience building, leading, and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial and operational awareness.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Good knowledge of relevant British Standards and Health & Safety requirements.
- SMSTS, CSCS, and FIA qualifications are advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
