Job Description
Job Title: Treatment Room Assistant
Reports to: Practice Manager

Hours of Work:
22.5 hours (days TBC) - We require full flexibility as these hours may change with the needs of the practice and to cover annual leave / sickness.
Job Summary:
The Healthcare Assistant will work as part of the healthcare team providing care and treatment to the patients of Rosehall Medical Practice working closely with other members of the clinical and admin teams to meet agreed targets in line with the Northern Ireland Contract Assurance Framework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by staff nurse, practice manager and GPs.
- Pulse Rate & Rhythm
- Temperature
- Height & Weight
- Wound care
- Removal of sutures /staples
- Urinalysis
- Phlebotomy
- ECGs
- Blood Pressure Monitoring
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
- Processing/requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Being available and flexible to ensure the needs of emergency patients are met.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs relating to needs and wellbeing.
- Inputting data on to computer and updating clinical records.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs.
- Maintaining, ordering of stock and rotating items as required
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of the treatment room area.
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A duty to advise Staff Nurse / Practice Manager of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
- Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
- Any other delegated clinical or administrative duties appropriate to the post

- To provide cover for other members of the nursing team due to sickness/training/annual leave/ emergency situations.
Person Specification
Essential
- Must have the right to work in the UK
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Able to work autonomously
- 1 year working in a health/social care environment performing phlebotomy
- IT literate
- Experience in wound care
- 5 GCSE's or equivalent grade C or above
Desirable
- Experience in EMIS clinical system
- Experience in administering injections eg. B12
- Qualification in Health & Social Care
