Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Estate Manager to oversee the operations which include school grounds/playing fields maintenance as well as managing Home Farm and deer herd. This vital role involves managing the day-to-day maintenance, animal care, horticultural/agricultural activities, and equipment upkeep to ensure the estate functions smoothly and sustainably. The ideal candidate will bring energy, attention to detail, and a passion for rural estate management to support the estate’s ongoing success and preservation. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the estate, including farm activities, grounds maintenance, and animal husbandry
- Manage the care and wellbeing of the deer herd, ensuring proper nutrition, health checks, and habitat management
- Maintain and repair farm equipment, power tools, and horticultural machinery using mechanical knowledge and hand tools
- Implement irrigation systems and horticultural practices to sustain gardens, fields, and landscaped areas
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, fences, water systems, and other infrastructure to identify maintenance needs
- Coordinate heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate techniques and equipment for projects such as fencing or building repairs
- Support staff or contractors in equipment repair, maintenance projects, or horticultural activities as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in estate management or agricultural operations with a focus on farm or rural property oversight
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing equipment and machinery
- Familiarity with agriculture practices, and animal care protocols
- Ability to use power tools, hand tools, and perform basic math calculations for project planning and measurements
- Physically capable of heavy lifting and performing outdoor maintenance tasks in all weather conditions
- Knowledge of animal husbandry techniques specific to deer or similar species is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining records of repairs, animal health, and horticultural activities
