Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Planning and Internal Control Group (PICG) of Specialised Products Department (SPD) to join our team.
Summary of Role:
Support Financial Controller (Manager of Reporting/Strategy team) in SPD with working closely together with SPD members at PICG and Financial Controller to support pipeline management, creating accurate forecast or analysing SPD’s department level gross profit and expenses against the department budget for the fiscal year.
Essentials of the Role:
Proactively manage data / analytics for SPD’s businesses (LBO, Real Estate Finance, Subscription Secured Finance, Net Asset Value Finance, Share-backed Finance, Private Credit Fund and Sponsor Coverage Department) and performances, including Gross Profit, Expenses, Exposure, Funded Asset, Commitment, Risk Weighted Assets, ROE and others.
Regulatory and Financial reporting with regard to SPD managed JVco entities and private credit entities as SMBC/SMFG’s affiliate as well as LP investments associated with JVCo business and Alternative AM business.
Communicate and collaborate with members of other departments including Credit Department, Strategic Planning Department EMEA Division, Operations and Administration Department, Risk Management Department, and others.
Requirement for this position:
Ability to analyse and interpret a high level of portfolio data sets
Strong IT skill including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Powerpoint
Strong communication skills to work closely together with stakeholders, as well as in both written and verbal forms to report SPD’s key performance figures
Business Area
SPD covers the entire EMEA region and primarily consists of four product areas (LBO, REF, SSF, and NAV), as well as the Sponsor Coverage Department (SCD) and four offices located in London, Dublin, Frankfurt, and Paris. PICG has provided comprehensive support across SPD, including SCD, in areas such as budget control, financial reporting, strategy development, and assisting with the launch of new business initiatives.
Position Description
These roles are part of PICG and reports to the manager of Financial controller, the Head of PICG and SPD’s senior management.
The role was established to work closely together with expatriate staffs at PICG, especially the manager of Financial Controller in order to enhance the control of JVCo, and Private credit entities in terms of regulatory and financial reporting as well as accounting management and achieve in increase in productivity, accuracy, efficiency, and speed with respect to the analyses and reporting.
The role is also expected to assist various internal new projects.
