Overall Purpose
Responsible for maintaining all site plant, equipment, and facilities to ensure operational requirements are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Technical, Quality, and Health & Safety standards.
*The position of Electrical Engineer will follow a 12 hour shift pattern working both day and nights.
The role requires a proactive approach to electrical engineering maintenance and continuous improvement, minimising downtime and supporting the smooth operation of production. This role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain plant and equipment to optimum performance standards, using both reactive and proactive maintenance approaches to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
- Prioritise workloads effectively to ensure site operational needs are met.
- Ensure all plant, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and practical condition in line with Technical, Quality, Ethical, Hygiene, and Health & Safety standards.
- Complete all work orders, records, and documentation accurately and within the required timescales, ensuring traceability and compliance.
- Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities in accordance with the monthly schedule and identify opportunities to improve reliability and performance.
- Maintain high standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and housekeeping within the engineering workshop and all operational areas.
- Use company resources efficiently, including spare parts, consumables, and equipment, ensuring cost-effective maintenance practices.
- Support and oversee site contractors as required, ensuring they work safely and in accordance with company procedures and site standards.
- Assist with accident and incident investigations, providing technical input where equipment or process knowledge is required.
- Promote and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across all departments to encourage effective communication and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, reporting hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Promote a culture of high hygiene and safety standards, ensuring these are upheld at all times.
- Participate in relevant training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in line with business and legislative requirements.
- · Undertake any other reasonable tasks or responsibilities as requested by management.

Competencies & Skills
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Fully qualified, with recognised Electrical Engineering certification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment (ideally food or FMCG).
- Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems and fault-finding techniques.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety and ability to work in compliance with company and legal standards.
- Experience in the control and supervision of contractors on site.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet business needs, including shift and weekend work where required.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Able to work calmly under pressure, managing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Practical understanding of efficiency and continuous improvement principles within maintenance operations.
