Location: Midlands based, with regular travel across Great Britain

ABOUT THE DOG WASH
The Dog Wash and The Clothes Wash are growing commercial equipment businesses providing innovative self service dog washing and laundry solutions.
We work with forecourts, retailers, property operators, leisure businesses and other commercial partners throughout Ireland and Great Britain.
We are now looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help drive our continued expansion across Great Britain.
THE ROLE
This is a proactive new business sales role.
You will be responsible for creating opportunities, approaching suitable businesses, arranging meetings, visiting potential locations and progressing opportunities from initial research through to signed agreement and operational handover.
This is not a role for someone who wants to wait for inbound enquiries. You must be comfortable building your own pipeline, starting conversations, travelling to meet potential customers and taking personal responsibility for delivering profitable sales.
You will sell equipment, identify strong commercial locations and develop long term partnerships for The Dog Wash and The Clothes Wash.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and identify suitable prospects across forecourts, retail, leisure, property, hospitality and other multi site sectors
- Build a consistent, self generated pipeline through telephone outreach, email, LinkedIn, networking, referrals and field activity
- Arrange and conduct customer meetings, site visits, presentations and commercial discussions
- Manage the full sales process from initial contact through discovery, proposal, negotiation, close and operational handover
- Understand each customer’s requirements and present a clear commercial case for purchasing equipment or entering a location partnership
- Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries, leads and customer communications
- Maintain regular contact with prospects and take ownership of every agreed follow up action
- Prepare clear proposals, presentations, business cases and commercial recommendations
- Negotiate within approved pricing, margin and commercial terms
- Protect company profitability by avoiding unnecessary discounting and escalating exceptions before making commitments
- Maintain complete and accurate CRM records, including customer details, meeting notes, opportunity values, next actions and expected close dates
- Provide reliable weekly reports covering activity, pipeline movement, proposals, forecast sales, risks and support required
- Ensure the sales pipeline is evidence based, current and capable of being reviewed by management at any time
- Conduct competitor and market research to identify emerging opportunities and areas where our brands can differentiate
- Work closely with the founder, operations and finance teams to ensure that customer commitments are realistic and installations are handed over properly
- Represent The Dog Wash and The Clothes Wash professionally at customer meetings, site visits and relevant industry events
- Travel regularly across Great Britain, including occasional overnight stays
AI AND DIGITAL WORKING
We want someone who is confident using modern technology to work more effectively.
You will be expected to use approved AI and digital tools responsibly to:
- Research industries, businesses and potential decision makers
- Identify and prioritise suitable target accounts
- Prepare for customer meetings and site visits
- Personalise outreach and follow up communications
- Draft proposals, presentations and business cases
- Summarise meetings and organise agreed actions
- Analyse pipeline information and identify stalled opportunities
- Reduce administration and spend more time speaking with customers
You should be comfortable using CRM software, spreadsheets, video calls, LinkedIn and AI tools such as ChatGPT.
Good judgement is essential. Customer, commercial and company information must only be entered into systems approved by the company.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A proven record of success in B2B field sales or new business development
- Ideally at least three years of relevant sales experience
- Clear evidence of targets achieved, revenue generated and new customers secured
- Experience creating a meaningful pipeline through your own prospecting activity
- Experience managing a complete sales process rather than simply generating appointments
- Strong commercial negotiation and closing skills
- Confidence presenting commercial proposals to business owners, managers and senior decision makers
- Experience using CRM software to manage opportunities and produce accurate forecasts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A full UK driving licence
- Based in the Midlands and able to travel regularly throughout Great Britain
Experience in capital equipment, commercial services, vending, laundry, pet care, forecourts, retail or multi site partnerships would be particularly valuable.
THE PERSON WE WANT
We are looking for someone who is:
- Energetic, ambitious and commercially hungry
- Proactive and willing to create opportunities rather than wait for them
- Resilient and comfortable handling rejection
- Responsive, organised and dependable
- Confident working independently and managing a national territory
- Accountable for their activity, pipeline and results
- Innovative and interested in finding better ways of working
- Comfortable using AI, CRM and digital sales tools
- Able to communicate clearly and build trust with different types of customers
- Disciplined about follow up, reporting and record keeping
- Commercially aware and protective of company margins
- Comfortable working directly with the founder in a fast moving growth business
- Collaborative, honest and willing to raise problems early
HOW SUCCESS WILL BE MEASURED
Performance will be assessed using:
- Qualified pipeline created
- Profitable sales completed
- New commercial locations secured
- Customer meetings and site visits
- Proposals issued
- Conversion rate
- Progress through the sales cycle
- Gross profit generated
- Forecast accuracy
- Quality and responsiveness of follow up

Initial objectives will focus on learning the products, identifying target accounts, generating qualified meetings, issuing proposals and building a credible pipeline. Sales expectations will increase progressively during the six month probation period.
