Our Health and Care Regulatory team provides advice and support to health, social care, education and housing organisations across the public and independent sector. We are a team of over 60 colleagues operating out of all four of our offices (Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and London) on a flexible hybrid basis. We take pride in providing high-quality support to our clients which is clear, user-friendly and responsive. We are open to discussions about alternative working patterns.
The role
We have an opportunity for a senior lawyer to join our team, offering the opportunity to be a part of a diverse and rich practice area that is intellectually stimulating and hugely rewarding. The role will involve advising clients on a range of health, social care and education issues, both contentious and non-contentious.
There will be a particular focus on supporting our clients in the lead up to and during inquest proceedings. There will be opportunities to be involved in our other work-types as well (such as Court of Protection, regulatory or children's law).
Key responsibilities:
- Manage your own varied caseload of both advisory and litigation matters
- Advocacy at inquests, Court of Protection hearings and Tribunals
- Active involvement in client care and business development
- Assist with the wider management and supervision of the team
What we are looking for from you
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- 5+ PQE
- Existing experience in health and social care law
- Experience of supporting clients in the lead up to and during inquests, including conducting own advocacy
- An ability to work confidently and effectively with others, clients and colleagues alike
- Technical excellence, organised, lateral thinker with an eye for detail
- Enthusiasm to develop legal skills and a willingness to take on challenges
- Team player, with the temperament to form strong and sustained working partnerships
- Practical and commercial approach
- Experience of being involved in business development activities

We operate a hybrid working model based on the needs of our clients, teams and people. Our core business hours are 9am - 5:15pm Monday to Friday, but we're open to our people working more flexibly around those times and welcome a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.
