Job Introduction

Salary: £30,024 - £32,597 a year plus £963 essential car user allowance (subject to criteria)
Hours: 37 a week
Contract type: Permanent

What You’ll be doing
Are you passionate about supporting older people to live independently and thrive within their community? Luton Council is looking for a dedicated Sheltered Housing Officer to deliver an effective, customer-focused housing and tenancy management service across our sheltered housing schemes.

In this rewarding role, you'll support residents with their health, wellbeing and changing needs, helping them access appropriate services and assistive technology to maintain their independence. You'll also manage tenancies, address tenancy-related issues including anti-social behaviour, and work closely with care providers, support services and other partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for residents.

What we’re looking for
We're looking for someone with experience of working with older people, tenancy management and supporting vulnerable adults. You'll have a sound knowledge of current housing legislation, regulations and best practice, along with an understanding of housing issues, resident needs and housing operations. Strong communication skills, the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly, write clear reports and manage a busy workload are essential.

Knowledge of housing management, welfare reform, benefits, debt advice and tenancy sustainment is highly desirable. A CIH qualification (or equivalent experience) is welcomed, as is the willingness to work towards professional accreditation.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, along with flexibility to work shift patterns and participate in an out-of-hours standby rota.

However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
