Full job description

Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Premises Officer to join our FM segment of the business and be based at the police headquarters in Derby. Working 40 hours per week between the hours of 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. This role is subject to Police Vetting.

Making Possible

In conjunction with common roles the Premises Officer (Handy Person) will carry out planned maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks as they occur across the site, in line with KPI’s.

Knowledge and experience with building fault finding.
Carry out repairs, painting, skirting and facing replacement, etc.
Identify spare parts to carry out repairs and order through appropriate channels.
Ability to inspect and carryout reactive landscape maintenance tasks in accordance with the project agreement including litter picking.
Inspection and fault finding building fabric.
Carry out monthly tap temperatures and flushing of little used outlets.
Liaison and supervision of subcontractors ensuring a safe execution of works.
Monitor and order stock for related items.
Assist in the provision of the associated services within the site.
Undertake porterage duties.
Assist in the fulfilment of health and safety responsibilities within the site.
Provide general support duties.
Assist in the operation of fire alarm systems and lighting systems.
Carry out and supply meter readings for utility consumption.
Other reasonable requests when required.

What do you bring to the role?

Experience as a Building Fabric or Multi-skilled Engineer, in a busy service environment, with previous experience dealing with building fabric issues.
Recognised trade qualification/Time served tradesmen.
Training in or experience of General H&S Regulations, carrying out the preparation of Risk Assessments and producing Method Statements for works within the site.
Must be experienced and self-motivated and able to identify concerns / defects without direction.
Full driving licence.
Reliable. (Through regular reviews of works attendance, attitude and competence).
Basic plumbing/mechanical and electrical experience would be advantageous.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Ability to use initiative in day to day duties.
Be willing to be part of a one in three on call rota.
