Job Description: Registered Service Manager

Organisation: Nova Reach Care Ltd

Service: Children’s Residential Home (Registered for ages 10–17)

Regulator: Ofsted

Accountable to: Registered Provider / Responsible Individual

Legal Basis: We have been approached to accommodate one child in a childrens homes. Job Purpose: You will hold personal Ofsted registration and act as the legally accountable lead for the home. You will ensure full compliance with all statutory obligations, deliver safe, nurturing, age‑appropriate care for children and young people aged 10 to 17, and drive positive outcomes in safety, wellbeing, personal development, and preparation for adulthood.Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory & Legal Accountability

Maintain personal Ofsted registration; act as the single point of legal responsibility for all aspects of the service.
Ensure full adherence to all regulations, national minimum standards, statutory guidance, and the home’s Statement of Purpose.
Develop, implement, and regularly review all policies, procedures, and statutory records; submit all required notifications and reports to Ofsted and local authorities on time.
Lead preparation for, and fully cooperate with, Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44 visits, and any regulatory action; address all findings promptly and effectively.

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

Lead all safeguarding and child protection practice; ensure robust procedures, risk assessments, and timely reporting of all concerns, allegations, or incidents – including missing children.
Create a safe, stable, respectful environment where children and young people feel secure, listened to, and protected from harm, exploitation, peer pressure, and risky behaviours.
Oversee physical health, mental health, emotional wellbeing, dental care, and access to specialist support such as CAMHS, substance misuse services, and independent advocacy.

Care & Development for Ages 10–17

Ensure every child has a person‑centred care plan that reflects their age, needs, wishes, and views – covering education, behaviour, relationships, identity, and future goals.
Support healthy development through childhood and adolescence; build resilience, encourage positive friendships, manage transitions, and foster life skills and independence.
Prioritise attendance, progress, and achievement in education, training, or employment; work closely with schools and colleges to identify and remove barriers to learning.
Manage admissions, placements, moves, and transitions carefully to minimise disruption at this formative stage.

Leadership & Staff Management

Lead, motivate, and develop the care team; oversee safe recruitment, vetting, induction, and enhanced DBS checks for all staff.
Deliver regular supervision, appraisals, and performance management; ensure all staff hold required qualifications and complete mandatory training – including child and adolescent development, behaviour management, and trauma‑informed care.
Plan safe staffing levels and rotas; build a culture that prioritises children’s voices, reflective practice, and consistent, compassionate care.

Operational & Partnership Working

Manage budgets, finances, property maintenance, and supplies to keep the home safe, homely, and fully fit for purpose.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with social workers, schools, health professionals, the police, families, and all other agencies involved in each child’s life.
Be available 24/7 to respond to emergencies and critical incidents, as required by regulation.

Essential Requirements

Qualification: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People’s Services) – Residential Childcare pathway.
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care, including at least 12 months in a supervisory or leadership role; proven experience supporting children and young people aged 10–17.
Clearances: Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory professional references, health declaration, and confirmation of Ofsted’s “fit and proper person” status.
Knowledge: Up‑to‑date understanding of children’s homes legislation, the Ofsted inspection framework, safeguarding, child protection, and adolescent development.
Skills: Strong leadership, conflict resolution, decision‑making, and communication skills; ability to work flexibly and manage complex, high‑pressure situations.

Desirable Criteria

Experience supporting young people with emotional or behavioural challenges
Knowledge of trauma‑informed or relational care models
Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children’s home
Full UK driving licence

Pay: £55,000.00 per year
