Who you are
We are looking for an individual with experience in a Warehouse leadership position, who has ambition and embraces personal challenge; a proactive attitude and self-motivation are also required for this demanding role. You must be confident and possess excellent communication skills. You must be team focused, have a collaborative nature and be a resilient person with an open mind and ready to adapt to change.
Overall purpose
To manage the smooth operation of the day-to-day warehouse activities and ensure the company's targets and objectives are met in line with customer requirements. Responsible for the day-to-day management of people within all warehouse departments, ensuring compliance with health and safety and standard operating procedures, as well as adherence to good housekeeping standards. Propose continuous improvements to the running of the department.
The successful candidate will
- Manage the day-to-day running of both distribution centres (43 Bayton Road and Grovelands), ensuring resource is managed to ensure all orders are distributed within the service levels determined by the business.
- Adhere to the Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and implemented by the wider team.
- Provide and maintain a safe working environment by proactively identifying, reporting and addressing safety hazards within the work area.
- Ensure weekly safety checks are completed, and actions are passed to the Operations Manager.
- Ensure that all relevant procedures and processes are followed.
- Continuously improve and implement quality processes to ensure a ‘Right First Time’ product is distributed to the customer and that this is aligned with their expectation.
- Operate visual delivery tracking systems in order for the commodity status to be seen immediately.
- Continuously review and update processes in all Operations departments as required in order to ensure smooth running of the department.
- Deliver efficiencies to support year on year operational budget reduction.
- Effective daily use of internal ordering systems including discrepancies
- Working in collaboration with the Operation & Logistics Manager, continuously implement warehouse working practices and management systems that are in line with best practice.
- Monitor and review operational methods to facilitate both qualitative and quantitative improvements whilst ensuring continuous customer service.
- Control of Forklift Truck management to ensure full operational capacity and achieve daily targets.
- Oversee any planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Ensure security of Warehouse environment and maintain access control, ensuring 5S housekeeping standards are always maintained.
- Interview and recruit new candidates when required.
- Manage a continuous improvement programme for all distribution operations and reducing error rates in line with KPIs.
- Provide cover for the Operations & Logistics Manager as and when required
- General warehouse tasks as and when required for the needs of the business
- Any other duties as required by the Operations & Logistics Manager or Operations Director.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a leadership position within a warehouse environment.
- Strong understanding of standard Health and Safety policies.
- Excellent people management skills, including conflict resolution and performance management.
- Experienced in maintaining and improving warehouse operating procedures.
- Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Hours of work
The hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 12.00pm – 8.30pm.
