Join Our Growing Private Client Team

Our Wills, Trusts and Probate team has built a strong reputation for providing expert legal advice combined with a highly personal and compassionate approach. As the team continues to grow, we are looking for an organised, proactive and professional Legal Assistant to support our Partners, Senior Associates, Associates and wider Private Client team. Based in our Lymington office, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a department that is committed to delivering exceptional client care and building lasting relationships with those we support.

About the Role

As a Legal Assistant, you will be a valued member of our Private Client Team, providing high-quality administrative and procedural support across a broad range of matters, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, trusts, probate and estate administration. You will work closely with our Partner, Senior Associates and Associates, helping to ensure matters progress efficiently while maintaining the exceptional levels of client care for which the team is known

Based in our Lymington office, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day management of matters, ensuring work progresses efficiently and clients receive a professional and responsive service.

Private Client work often involves supporting individuals and families through significant life events, from planning for the future to dealing with the affairs of a loved one following bereavement. This role requires someone who combines excellent organisational skills with empathy, professionalism and discretion.

What You'll Be Doing

Client Support

· Acting as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for clients.

· Communicating confidently by telephone, email and in person.

· Supporting client appointments, onboarding processes and ID checks.

· Providing clear procedural updates and ensuring clients receive an excellent level of service throughout their matter.

· Building positive relationships with clients and ensuring they feel supported throughout their matter.

Matter and Document Management

· Preparing and organising files, document packs, correspondence and client information.

· Managing file opening and closing procedures.

· Maintaining accurate, organised and audit-ready files.

· Tracking key deadlines, outstanding actions and procedural requirements.

· Ensuring documents and communications are saved and recorded correctly.

· Supporting the preparation of probate, trust and estate administration documentation as required.

· Producing documents from digital dictation and audio typing to a high standard.

Administrative Support

· Managing diaries, appointments and meetings for fee earners.

· Supporting billing processes and maintaining accurate records.

· Assisting with document production, formatting, scanning and electronic filing.

· Liaising with clients, financial institutions, professional advisers and third parties as required.

· Helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of a busy and growing department

Team Support

· Working collaboratively with colleagues across the team.

· Supporting Partners and Senior Associates during busy periods.

· Sharing information clearly and effectively to keep matters progressing.

· Contributing to a positive, professional and supportive working environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and enjoys working as part of a team.

Ideally, you will have:

· Previous experience working in a law firm.

· Experience within a Private Client, Wills, Trusts and Probate team would be an advantage.

· Strong typing, document production and administrative skills.

· Experience of audio typing and digital dictation.

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach.

· Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office.

· The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

Importantly, you will also have:

· A warm and professional approach to client care.

· Empathy and emotional intelligence.

· The ability to deal sensitively with clients who may be bereaved or facing difficult personal circumstances.

· A high level of discretion and understanding of confidentiality.

· A strong work ethic and a proactive approach to supporting colleagues.

· Excellent keyboard skills and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality documents from audio dictation.
