We’re working with an established and growing media and marketing organisation that is looking for a talented Data Engineer to join its Digital & Data team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer with a strong background in Python, SQL and cloud technologies, who also understands media, marketing and campaign data.
You’ll play a key role in building, maintaining and improving the data pipelines and platforms that support marketing activation, reporting and automation for a range of clients.
The Role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll take ownership of new and existing ETL pipelines and data engineering projects, working with data from multiple sources to create robust, scalable and meaningful solutions.
You’ll work closely with technical teams, media specialists, clients and external partners to ensure data is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building, maintaining, monitoring and optimising ETL/data pipelines
- Developing bespoke reporting and marketing intelligence solutions using Python and SQL
- Working with data from multiple platforms and APIs
- Investigating new data sources and developing the business logic required to transform data
- Troubleshooting and improving existing data solutions
- Supporting client onboarding and resolving data-related issues
- Working with cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS and GCP
- Contributing to data architecture, product design and the wider data roadmap
- Working across DevOps activities supporting data platforms and infrastructure
- Ensuring strong data governance, security and data integrity
- Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Helping improve and automate existing reporting and manual processes
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone with approximately 2–3 years' commercial experience working with Python and SQL, alongside a genuine understanding of data engineering principles.
You should have:
- Strong Python and SQL experience
- Previous experience within a media agency or working with media/marketing data
- Experience working with APIs and extracting data from different platforms
- End-to-end experience designing and implementing ETL solutions
- Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect
- Strong Git/GitHub/GitLab experience
- Experience working with Azure, AWS and/or GCP
- A strong understanding of data integrity, validation, auditing and MDM
- Experience translating business requirements into technical requirements
- The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience supporting the back end of visualisation and dashboarding products such as Power BI, Tableau or Datorama
Desirable Experience
It would also be advantageous if you have experience with:
- Adverity
- Linux VMs
- Bash or Zsh
- Git hooks
- CI/CD
- Cloud infrastructure and platform costing
- Improving and automating reporting workflows
