Haar is looking for an exceptional Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and help shape the next chapter of one of St Andrews’ most respected restaurants.

This is an opportunity for a chef with genuine ambition, creativity and a passion for exceptional produce to take the lead at a restaurant with a strong reputation for Scottish seafood, modern cooking and outstanding guest experiences.

Working closely with Chef Dean Banks, you will have the opportunity to develop the food offering at Haar while maintaining the high standards expected of a Michelin-recognised restaurant.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a chef who wants more than simply to run a kitchen.

You will have a key role in developing the culinary identity of Haar, working with exceptional Scottish suppliers and seasonal produce to create food that is precise, considered and memorable.

With a strong focus on seafood and the very best of Scotland's natural larder, the role offers significant creative opportunity for the right chef.

You will be responsible for:

Leading and inspiring the kitchen brigade
Working closely with Dean Banks on menus, dishes and culinary development
Maintaining exceptional standards across food quality, flavour and presentation
Developing relationships with local and Scottish suppliers
Championing seasonality, sustainability and exceptional produce
Creating a strong kitchen culture built around training and development
Managing food costs, GP, ordering, stock and kitchen budgets
Ensuring consistently high standards of preparation and service
Managing kitchen labour and rotas effectively
Recruiting, developing and retaining talented chefs
Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
Working closely with the front of house and senior management teams

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an ambitious and highly driven chef with experience in a high-quality, Michelin Guide or Michelin-starred environment.

You will have a strong technical foundation, an excellent understanding of produce and a genuine desire to continually improve.

You will be:

An inspiring and hands-on leader
Passionate about exceptional food and Scottish produce
Creative, detail-focused and technically strong
Experienced in leading a high-performing kitchen brigade
Commercially aware with a strong understanding of GP and kitchen costs
Organised and calm under pressure
Passionate about developing young and ambitious chefs
Driven by consistency and the pursuit of excellence
