Company Overview

Ecobat Solutions leverages its UK and Germany operations, technical expertise, and practical experience to bring innovative products and solutions to market. We conduct technical queries and assist in the development of bespoke products based on specific application requirements. We also work to drive advancement within our company and industry as part of our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, including the development of technologies and processes for recycling and resource recovery for Lithium-ion and other battery chemistries. Within Europe, Ecobat Solutions supports collection, dismantling, diagnostics and crushing/sorting capabilities to derive black mass, with a particular focus on its Germany and UK operations.

Job Summary

This Management Accountant will be based in the UK, report directly to the Finance Manager of Ecobat Solutions UK, and support both the UK and Germany operations, with primary focus on the financial performance, statutory accounting, month-end reporting and operational finance requirements of the Germany plant.

Responsibilities

Own and be accountable for the preparation of month-end accounts for the Germany plant, ensuring they are prepared strictly in accordance with German GAAP/HGB, are accurate and complete, and are submitted in line with Group processes and standards.
Prepare, review and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are clearly understood, documented and resolved on a timely basis.
Prepare and review accruals, prepayments, provisions and other month-end journals, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and compliance with Group accounting standards.
Work closely with the UK Finance team, Group Finance team and local Germany management on topics such as cash, accounting, consolidation, tax management and cost control.
Liaise and work closely with external auditors to support the statutory audit process and ensure the timely submission of statutory accounts for the Germany plant in accordance with German GAAP/HGB.
Take ownership of day-to-day finance operations for the Germany plant, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, supplier payments, customer receipts, cash management, aged balances and working capital monitoring.
Ensure compliance with German statutory, tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT and other local filings, working with external advisers where required.
Maintain strong internal financial controls over accounting processes, approvals, journals, reconciliations and financial reporting, ensuring records are accurate, complete and audit-ready.
Manage key plant accounting areas including inventory, stock reconciliations, stock provisions, fixed assets, depreciation, capital expenditure tracking and related reconciliations.
Oversee intercompany accounting, payroll accounting coordination, system data accuracy and continuous improvement of finance processes, reporting quality and month-end close timelines.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data and key performance indicators.
Deliver monthly financial reports on time, extract key insights through high-quality analysis and develop action plans.
Prepare and develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts with the finance teams to help drive performance improvement.
Prepare cost analysis and variance reporting for the Germany plant, identifying key cost drivers, risks and opportunities, and supporting local management with clear financial insight.
Develop, monitor and report operational and financial KPIs across Germany and the UK, ensuring performance measures are accurate, meaningful and aligned to business objectives.
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts and rolling outlooks, working with local management and the UK Finance team to challenge assumptions and improve forecast accuracy.
Drive continuous improvement in reporting, forecasting, month-end close and financial processes, helping to improve efficiency, accuracy and decision-making across the Germany and UK operations.
Act as business partner to local Germany management and support them in creating a performance culture, with appropriate alignment to Group processes and standards.

Qualifications and Competencies

University degree. Finance, Business or Economics related.
Fully qualified accountant, or in the final stages of ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualification, with relevant practical working experience.
Minimum 3 years Finance Analytical experience preferably from an industrial manufacturing, chemical or automotive sector with high complexity, and best-in-class supply chain and operations
Expert knowledge of German GAAP/HGB, with the ability to apply local statutory accounting requirements alongside Group standards and reporting expectations.
Strong understanding of accounting, financial control, analysis and reporting, audit, and risk control.
Strong analytical and technical skills which cover the range of financial systems and reporting processes.
Ability to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong understanding of the key financial and commercial value drivers of a business.
Proven ability to deliver financial insight and implement sustainable improvement.
Experience in working with German finance processes and collaborating effectively with UK-based colleagues within a structured organisation.
Experience within diverse teams and securing/managing relationships with suppliers.
Ability to influence key stakeholders through effective communication and positive can-do attitude.
Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability.

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
