Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee kitchen operations, support food production, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. The successful applicant will play a vital role in supervising kitchen staff, managing food preparation, and contributing to the overall success of our restaurant. Experience working in an Italian restaurant is preferred.

Duties

Assist the Head Chef in planning and developing menus that meet customer preferences and dietary requirements
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
Oversee daily food production activities, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, maintaining high standards of taste and visual appeal
Ensure all food safety regulations and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to within the kitchen environment
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste through efficient stock management
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times

Skills

Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen or hospitality setting
Extensive food preparation and cooking skills across diverse cuisines
Strong team management capabilities with excellent leadership qualities
In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene
Experience in food production, ensuring consistency in quality across all dishes
Familiarity with restaurant operations, including serving procedures and customer service principles
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Passion for culinary arts with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
