Our Care Homes
Argyll House is a light traditional stone building on three floors and has a private patio garden which is well used in summer.
Argyll House is within easy reach of local shops and cafes, Kilmarnock FC, and Howard Park. Most of the residents come from Ayrshire, and many have strong community links. The home has space for 31 residents in the main house and modern purpose-built extension.
Belhaven House is in a stunning location opposite Royal Troon Golf Club, overlooking the links and out to sea towards Arran. Residents enjoy plenty of sea air, bird life and spectacular sunsets.
Belhaven House is a stylish home with large windows letting in plenty of light, and a first-floor lounge with a lovely view of the sea and links. It has a private garden and is in easy reach of cafés and shops in Troon. The home has space for up to 34 residents (33 single rooms and one potential double), with 26 en-suite rooms on the ground floor.
The Role
As Bank Cook, you will work between our two care homes in Kilmarnock and Troon playing a key role in enhancing the wellbeing of our residents by providing freshly made, nutritious meals in our warm and welcoming home from home environment. You will be supported by a kitchen assistant and take ownership of delivering our catering service, meeting the needs of individual dietary needs and preferences of our residents and supporting ongoing health and access to a wide range of delicious meals.
Playing a vital role as part of the care home team, you will take pride in maintaining high standards of food preparation, hygiene and safety, while ensuring every resident has an enjoyable dining experience at day. Working with residents and our team to prepare delicious dishes and family favourites is central to your continued success, as is actively supporting and collaborating with team members to ensure our quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals, ensuring an enjoyable dining experience for every resident.
- Plan varied and exciting menus, working closely with our Home Manager to show how we’re incorporating seasonal ingredients and supporting individual dietary requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Order and manage stock efficiently, sourcing quality ingredients within budget while minimising waste.
- Ensure safe food storage, regularly monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
- Support and supervise kitchen team members, providing guidance on food preparation and hygiene practices.
- Bake creative treats for special occasions, such as birthday cakes and themed events, contributing to our positive shared home community experience.
- Engage with residents to understand their meal preferences, promoting choice, dignity and independence in all decision-making.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, working collaboratively with colleagues across our care home.
- Attend training and team meetings, staying up to date with food safety, health regulations and best practices.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a catering environment, preferably a commercial kitchen, with knowledge of food safety, Health & Safety, and fire safety regulations.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and high standards of personal hygiene.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide team members, maintain accurate records.
- A positive, adaptable and respectful approach, working collaboratively as part of a team while upholding high standards of care and service.
