Adman Int Ltd - Fire Door Inspector - Passive Fire Protection
Adman Int Ltd is seeking an experienced Fire Door Inspector to join our growing passive fire protection team. The successful candidate will carry out fire door inspections across residential and commercial properties, produce detailed compliance reports, and support clients in achieving statutory fire safety compliance. FIRAS, FDIS, or BM TRADA qualifications are desirable, and a full UK driving licence is essential.
Job Purpose
To carry out inspections of fire door assemblies in residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and public sector buildings in accordance with current UK fire safety legislation and relevant British Standards. The Fire Door Inspector is responsible for identifying defects, assessing compliance, producing accurate inspection reports, and recommending remedial actions to maintain compartmentation and life safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Inspect fire door assemblies in accordance with **BS 8214**, **BS 9999**, the **Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005**, and applicable Scottish fire safety legislation.
· Assess doorsets for compliance with manufacturer certification and fire test evidence.
· Examine frames, leaves, gaps, seals, glazing, ironmongery, hinges, closers, locks, latches, thresholds, signage, and associated hardware.
· Measure and record door clearances, leaf dimensions, and other critical performance criteria.
· Identify defects, damage, wear, unauthorised alterations, and installation issues that may affect fire performance.
· Produce detailed inspection reports, schedules of defects, photographic records, and remedial recommendations.
· Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, housing officers, contractors, and occupants.
· Prioritise defects according to risk and provide clear compliance advice.
· Maintain accurate records using digital inspection software, tablets, or company reporting systems.
· Attend site meetings and provide technical support relating to fire door compliance.
· Keep up to date with changes in legislation, guidance documents, standards, and certification requirements.
· Comply with company quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Person Specification - Essential
· Experience inspecting fire doors or working within passive fire protection, joinery, construction, building maintenance, or fire safety.
· Good understanding of fire door components and compartmentation principles.
· Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer details.
· Competent in report writing and photographic recording.
· Full UK driving licence.
· Good communication and organisational skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage a site-based workload.
Desirable
· FIRAS Fire Door Inspection Diploma**
· BRE / FDIS Fire Door Inspection Certificate**
· BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Inspector qualification**
· CSCS card.
· Asbestos awareness training.
· Working at Height and Manual Handling training.
Qualifications
· Minimum: NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Joinery, Carpentry, Construction, Fire Protection, or Building Maintenance.
· Recognised fire door inspection qualification preferred.
Working Conditions
· Regular travel to client sites across the UK.
· Work in occupied residential blocks, hospitals, schools, offices, and industrial premises.
· Occasional work at height or within restricted service areas.
· Use of ladders, inspection tools, tablets, and photographic equipment.

The post holder must:
· Follow all company health and safety procedures.
· Wear appropriate PPE.
· Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately.
· Ensure inspections do not compromise building safety or security.

About You:
- Must have an in-date CSCS card
- Minimum: NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Joinery, Carpentry, Construction, Fire Protection, or Building Maintenance.
- Can do attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Own transport preferred
Remuneration:
Salary £40,000 per year
37.5 hours working week (Monday to Friday) Travel is sometimes required.
