Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef position available

The role is at: Social Bar & Kitchen Newton Abbot or The Bear Newton Abbot

Competitive wage based on experience

Full-time or part time available.

About Us

We are an independent, family run hospitality business based in the heart of Newton Abbot, proudly operating two very different but equally exciting venues.

Social Bar & Kitchen is our award winning restaurant offering premium casual dining.

The Bear is our lively activity bar, combining quality street food with live sport, entertainment, and events.

We're looking for either an experienced Head Chef ready to lead one of our kitchens, or a talented Sous Chef looking to take the next step in their career with the support to develop into a Head Chef.

We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about creating great food, leading by example and helping shape the future of one of our kitchens.

Depending on your experience, you'll either:

Lead and run one of our kitchen teams as Head Chef
Join as a Senior Sous Chef with a clear development pathway into a Head Chef position

What You'll Be Doing

Leading and motivating the kitchen team
Maintaining consistently high food standards
Supporting menu development and seasonal specials
Managing stock, ordering and GP
Maintaining excellent food hygiene and HACCP standards
Training and developing junior chefs
Working alongside the front of house team to deliver a fantastic customer experience
Helping drive the business forward with fresh ideas and enthusiasm

Essential

Previous experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations
Food safety and hygiene knowledge
Excellent communication skills
