Full job description

We're a close-knit IT team looking for a capable, personable IT Support Engineer to join us at our offices in the heart of the City. If you enjoy solving problems, take pride in looking after your users, and want to be somewhere your work is noticed rather than lost in a huge helpdesk queue, we'd like to hear from you.

This is a hands-on, people-facing role. You'll be the friendly first point of contact when something isn't working, and you'll see issues through from the first call to a happy user. Because we're a smaller team, you'll get real variety, genuine ownership of your work, and the chance to get stuck into projects and client sites rather than being stuck at one desk all day.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide first-line support for hardware and software issues, with a strong focus on desktop and Office 365 support. You'll troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly to keep disruption to a minimum, log everything cleanly in our ticketing system, and keep users updated so they always know where things stand. You'll help keep our IT inventory, software licensing and hardware assets in good order, assist with rolling out new systems and applications, and keep an eye on system performance, flagging where things could run better. From time to time you'll head out to client sites to commission new equipment and support project work — a welcome change of scenery and a chance to see your work make a real difference.

What we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have proven experience in an IT support or desktop support role, including hands-on work with Office 365 applications and day-to-day Office 365 administration. You'll have a solid grounding in Windows operating systems and a working understanding of TCP/IP networking, and you'll be comfortable using ticketing systems and support tools. Just as important as the technical side is the way you work with people: clear communication, patience, and the ability to explain things simply to both technical and non-technical colleagues. A proactive, "let's get it sorted" attitude and a real commitment to good service will fit right in here.

The practical details

This is an in-person role based at our Aldgate offices, working 09:00–17:30, Monday to Friday — well connected by tube, rail and bus, and surrounded by everything the City and Spitalfields have to offer for lunch and after work. A valid UK (DVLA) driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role includes occasional travel to client sites for commissioning and project work.

Please note this role is subject to passing a DBS check on appointment, and undergoing NPPV Level 3 security vetting within the first year — a reflection of the trusted work we do for our clients.
