Kraken Technology Group is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to play a key role in the integration, testing, and validation of our cutting-edge autonomous marine vessels and platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative marine technology projects, collaborating with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest performance standards.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will:
- Perform system commissioning activities including power-up testing, sensor calibration, and communications setup.
- Conduct fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem resolution during commissioning.
- Verify that customer specifications and project requirements have been successfully integrated and tested.
- Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, procedures, reports, and checklists.
- Execute and document Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Harbour Acceptance Testing (HAT), and Sea Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Support project delivery by working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations teams.
- Liaise with customers, subcontractors, and classification societies throughout the commissioning process.
- Support technical investigations and customer issues post-delivery.
- Assist with equipment handover and certification processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- HNC qualification in an Engineering, Technology, or Science discipline, or equivalent commissioning experience.
- Experience within the marine engineering industry.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable
- HND or Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Science.
- Experience with autonomous systems.
- Understanding of analogue and digital I/O, RS232/422/485, and CANbus communications.
- Current Forklift Truck Licence.
- Highly organised with a structured and methodical approach.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
