Kappture develops point-of-sale, payments and hospitality technology for high-volume environments, including stadiums, arenas, universities and major event venues.
Our terminal platform is at the centre of live hospitality operations. It supports ordering, payments, printing, customer identification, loyalty, fulfilment, offline operation and communication with Kappture's cloud services and a wide range of connected devices.
Kappture terminals operate in demanding environments where transaction speed, resilience and diagnosability are critical. Changes must work reliably across different hardware, operating systems, payment providers, peripherals, network conditions and customer configurations.
We are continuing to modernise the terminal platform and its engineering practices while maintaining the stability required by a large operational estate.
We are seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer to take a leading hands-on role in the development, modernisation and improvement of Kappture’s point-of-sale terminal platform.
You will design and deliver complex terminal-side features, investigate difficult production issues and help improve the reliability, maintainability and testability of an established C++ application.
This role is not limited to maintaining the current platform or delivering within existing practices. We are looking for an engineer who will help accelerate the evolution of the terminal engineering function by improving architecture, diagnostics, automation, testing and development workflows.
You should be comfortable challenging established approaches where there is evidence that a better method would reduce risk, shorten investigation time or improve delivery. At the same time, you will understand that change within a mature, operationally critical platform must be introduced carefully and incrementally.
The role requires more than general C++ development experience. You should be able to reason across application code, operating systems, hardware devices, payment integrations, network communication and backend services. You will regularly work on problems where the visible symptom may originate from a terminal, peripheral, payment device, configuration, service or unreliable network connection.
You will work closely with other terminal engineers, architects, Product, QA, Platform and Support. You will provide technical leadership through design, implementation, review, investigation, mentoring and the introduction of stronger engineering practices.
We expect the successful candidate to help accelerate the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices within the terminal team. This includes moving beyond individual use of coding assistants to identify, implement and evaluate repeatable workflows for codebase understanding, test generation, log analysis, documentation, diagnostics and controlled modernisation.
Deep C++ and systems-engineering capability remains the core requirement. AI should strengthen engineering judgement, investigation quality and delivery effectiveness rather than replace appropriate design, review, testing or hardware validation.
The role involves regular work with point-of-sale hardware, payment devices, NFC readers, scanners, printers and associated peripherals, a Galway-based hybrid arrangement is strongly preferred.
Experienced candidates based elsewhere in Ireland may also be considered where they can travel regularly to Galway and maintain an appropriate remote hardware-development environment.
Candidates must be based in Ireland and able to work regularly from the Galway office or travel to Galway as required for hardware integration and technical collaboration.
