Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP Developer to join our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust web applications and services that support our diverse business operations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in e-commerce, with expertise in PHP and related technologies, to drive innovative solutions that enhance our digital offerings and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of scalable and secure PHP-based web applications, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design system architecture utilizing MVC frameworks and microservices architecture.
- Develop and integrate APIs to facilitate seamless communication between front-end interfaces and back-end services.
- Optimize database design and queries for MySQL to ensure high performance.
- Implement front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to deliver engaging user experiences.
- Write unit tests and conduct debugging activities to ensure code quality and reliability across all projects.
- Utilise version control systems such as Git for source code management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements related to application development workflows.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior PHP Developer or similar role with a minimum of five years in software development at an e-commerce or similar business.
- Extensive knowledge of PHP frameworks.
- Proficiency in front-end development technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks.
- Strong understanding of database systems including MySQL.
- Experience working with RESTful Web Services (APIs)/
- Knowledge of application development best practices including unit testing, debugging techniques, SDLC methodologies.
- Familiarity with tools such as Visual Studio, Eclipse; version control systems like GitHub; build tools like TFS or Jenkins.
- Understanding of microservices architecture principles and containerization technologies is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong communication abilities; ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
- Be able to work within a team of other experienced developers.
