Job Summary
Microbrain is looking for a mid-level full stack developer to join us on site at our Gloucester office. You'll be working across our web, mobile and cloud stack, taking a feature from build through to deployment.
This is a hands-on role in a small team, so you'll get exposure to the whole delivery pipeline rather than being boxed into one layer. We work from a prioritised task list, but priorities can and do shift during the day. We need someone comfortable picking up a new item at short notice, reprioritising sensibly, and communicating clearly about what's moving.
Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining backend services in Python and PHP/Laravel
- Developing cross platform mobile applications using React Native and Flutter
- Translating Figma designs into accurate, responsive front end builds
- Designing and consuming REST APIs across web and mobile clients
- Deploying and managing infrastructure on AWS
- Building and improving CI/CD pipelines to keep releases fast and reliable
- Working from a shared task board, flagging blockers early and adapting when priorities change
- Contributing to technical decisions and code reviews
Requirements
- Solid commercial experience across backend and frontend development
- Python
- PHP with Laravel
- React Native and/or Flutter
- JavaScript and TypeScript
- SQL (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
- REST API design and integration
- AWS (compute, storage, networking fundamentals)
- Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git based workflows
- The ability to take a Figma file and build it faithfully. Good eye for spacing, type and responsive behaviour, and confident asking a designer the right questions when something doesn't translate cleanly to code
- Someone who can switch context without losing the thread, and who asks questions rather than guessing
- Comfortable working in an office environment as part of a small, collaborative team
Nice to have
- Blockchain or Web3 experience (Solidity, wallet integration, on chain data). Not essential, but a genuine advantage
- Experience with Docker and containerised deployments
- Exposure to infrastructure as code
- Linux and shell scripting
- AI Implementation experience and Prompting

- £37,000 to £42,000 depending on experience
