Overview
We are seeking a talented and innovative Web Designer to join our dynamic digital team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in digital design, interaction design, and front-end development, with experience in creating engaging, responsive websites and user interfaces. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from website redesigns to developing new digital experiences, utilising a broad range of industry-standard tools and technologies. The successful applicant will be instrumental in enhancing our online presence through creative visual solutions and seamless user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop visually appealing, user-friendly websites and digital interfaces that align with brand guidelines and project requirements.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Balsamiq, Axure, and InVision to communicate design concepts effectively.
- Collaborate with developers to implement designs using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, or Node.js.
- optimise websites for performance, SEO, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility utilizing tools like Google Analytics and best practices in responsive web design.
- Maintain and update existing websites built on content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal, ensuring they are current, secure, and functional.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions, enhancing overall user experience (UX) and information architecture.
- Utilise graphic design skills to create visual assets using software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects for multimedia content.
- Implement best practices in accessibility standards and usability principles to ensure inclusive digital experiences.
- Assist in website maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting issues related to front-end code or backend integrations such as MySQL or SQL databases.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in web design, UX/UI, and front-end technologies to continually improve skill set and project outcomes.
Experience
- Proven experience in digital design, interaction design, or front-end development with a strong portfolio demonstrating previous work on websites or web applications.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including SCSS/SASS), JavaScript (including AJAX), and modern frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Experience with content management systems like WordPress or Drupal is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) as well as prototyping tools like Figma or InVision.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices, website analytics (Google Analytics), and email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp is advantageous.
- Understanding of information architecture, usability testing, wireframing techniques, and responsive web design principles.
- Ability to conduct user research and data analysis to inform design improvements.
- Experience working within an Agile environment is preferred but not essential.

Pay: £33,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
