The EHS Specialist is responsible for leading, owning and delivering day‑to‑day Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) performance at site level, acting as a competent professional specialist for site associates.
This position reports to the EHS Manager and is part of Operations located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Independently manage and enhance site EHS Management Systems, ensuring policies, procedures, and programs are effectively implemented, maintained, and periodically reviewed for compliance and continuous improvement.
Plan, lead, and execute internal EHS audit programs, including tracking, managing, and verifying timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
Independently lead and own EHS initiatives and projects supporting regulatory compliance and alignment with Danaher governance and corporate EHS standards.
Identify and assess role and risk based EHS training needs, develop relevant training content, and competently deliver effective training aligned with site laboratory and operational risk profiles.
Coach and influence and partner site teams to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and define proportionate controls that support business operations to enable teams to build EHS capability, strengthen ownership, and drive sustainable improvements in safety performance.
The essential requirements of the job include:

Education – relevant H&S Qualifications, for example NEBOSH National Certificate qualification or equivalent

Functional Experience – extensive practical, hands-on experience supporting a laboratory-based organization.

Technical Skills - expertise in Microsoft applications, especially Excel.

Communication & Collaboration - demonstrated ability to work independently while leading EHS initiatives, collaborating effectively across functions, and communicating clearly with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Organization & Planning - proven risk‑based decision‑making, strong independent proactive planning and prioritization skills, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast‑paced working environment.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Working within the life science sector and familiar with both manufacturing along with R&D laboratory environments
