BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking is a globally recognised leader offering capital markets, securities services, financing, treasury and advisory solutions.
Purpose: As a long-term intern in the ABS/CLO trading team, the role holder will be accountable for providing support to more senior team members on routine tasks related to the trading activity carried out in the team. Their work will be focused on developing desk infrastructure and working under direct supervision from more experienced colleagues.
More specifically, the role will require the following:
- Learning the intricacies about EUR securitised products
- Producing and monitoring P&L & Risk metrics
- Help improve desk infrastructure and pricers
- Responsible for providing routine support through the completion of non-complex, transaction oriented tasks, including assisting with:
- Booking transactions, and monitoring / conducting follow-ups with booked transactions with Middle Office and Back Office.
- Monitoring the aggregate Risk and P&L of the team’s book.
- Keeping up to date with market news and events.
- Evaluating the risk and opportunities in the market for positions and strategy that align with the overall desk’s strategy.
- Providing market colour to other parts of the bank e.g. Sales, Syndicate & Strategy
- Utilises knowledge in the team to understand and apply best practices to all activities, and helps to identify potential process improvements to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the support provided both personally and the team.
- Accurately and succinctly delivers information to team members to support their work, and builds internal working relationships with other traders and teams (including sales and DCM) to ensure effective collaboration and franchise development.
- Degree from a leading university with an excellent academic record; or equivalent work experience
- Good understanding of financial markets
- Curious and eager to learn
- Confident verbal, written communication and networking skills
- Proficient with MS Office tools, including Excel
- Great organisational, multitasking and time management skills
- Strong analysis and judgement
- Meticulous accuracy with a keen eye for detail
- Team player, proactive, independent, enthusiastic self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent spoken and written English. Additional languages are an advantage
- Strong programming skills (Preferably Python) will be needed
